Iron(II,III) oxide - Fe3O4 ( 1 kg )

Availability: In stock
Quantity: x 1 ks
Price with VAT: 5,50 € ( 4,58 € without VAT )

Product name

Ferric oxide , Fe3O4 , Iron (II, III) oxide

Usage

It is used in the production of iron in a blast furnace. To the top of the furnace are added iron ores along with limestone and coke. The reaction of the coke with oxygen in the air that is driven by the furnace bottom, the carbon monoxide is formed, by means of which underway an indirect reduction of ores. There is a reaction Fe3O4 + 3 CO → FeO + CO2. The resulting iron oxide coming down the lower part of the furnace where is reduced to the iron by coke. The resulting carbon dioxide reacts with the coke to form two molecules of carbon monoxide, which in turn reduces the iron ore.
